SPA-AT-HOME: hydrotherapy paths with medicinal plantsHydrotherapy can be carried out at home during isolation from COVID19
Reduced or absent physical activity, overfeeding, anxiety and depression, problems of living together in confined spaces: these are some of the negative aspects of the forced but necessary conditions of isolation in which we are forced during this period of emergency.
There are, however, some practices, simple and cheap, that allow to create "countermeasures" proposed by experts of the World Federation of Thermalism FEMTEC (www.femteconline.org) that we could define "The Spa at home". Waiting, of course, to be able to use the real ones soon, with water, natural environments and adequate facilities. These are some simple hydrotherapy techniques that, combined with the use of plant extracts, available in herbal centers, can help to reactivate the body's general energy, stimulate the immune system but also to obtain a relaxing effect.
The advice, are edited by the medical experts Erus Sangiorgi and Emilio Minelli, respectively Coordinators of the FEMTEC Commissions for Integrated Thermal Medicine and Complementary Medicine, propose cold frictions and hot baths (respectively stimulating and relaxing) with different essences, indicating how to perform them.
These hydrotherapy techniques are easily performed at home with the addition of different essences of plants, from the simplest ones (orange, lavender) to more demanding ones (astragalus, oats, uncaria, ginger)**.
"Once the storm COVID-19 has passed, when it will be possible to leave the quarantine", indicates Professor Umberto Solimene, President of FEMTEC, "always in compliance with the indications and health regulations which must be strictly adhered to, nothing can replace a stay in a locality and therapeutic spa - which, I remind you, to be effective, must last at least 12 days - or relaxation (in this case 3-4 days are sufficient)".See the Italian document
