Ourense, the paradise of tourists

Ourense is a city in Galicia, Spain, famous for its thermal waters, its Romanesque monuments and the natural beauties of the region.

The Cathedral of Ourense, a 12th century Gothic building located in the historic center of the city, was built on an ancient Romanesque church and has a Gothic facade with a large central rose window. The interior of the cathedral is decorated with frescoes and sculptures of great artistic value.

There are many other tourist attractions in Ourense such as the Roman Bridge and the Provincial Archaeological Museum.

Ourense is also famous for its thermal waters. The baths of Ourense are among the oldest in Europe and have been used since Roman times. Today there are several spas in Ourense where tourists can enjoy the healing properties of the thermal waters.

The thermal area of A Chavasqueira-Outariz offers an unbeatable opportunity to take advantage of the virtues of the hot mineral-medicinal waters that flow from the various towns in the city.

To do this, you can take the Thermal Walk, which runs along the right bank of the river Minho, starting in Campo da Feira and ending in Outariz. The space in which the tour takes place is enviable, with the banks of the River Minho recovered, conditioned and of great natural value.

Furthermore, the city offers a wide range of restaurants and bars where tourists can enjoy the local cuisine. Ourense represents the cuisine of the interior of Galicia, highlighting the meat and fish from the river.

As far as the drink is concerned, Ourense is located on the eastern edge of the Ribeiro region, and its exceptional wine is what presides over the tables, along with those of the other denominations of origin present in the province, those of Valdeorras, Ribeira Sacra and Monterrey.

The city has many places to enjoy these delicacies, but the area with the highest concentration of restaurants is the area between the old town and the city's extension (Progreso, Paseo, Quiroga Palacios, Capitán Eloy, Buenos Aires , San Lázaro Park, etc.). On the outskirts of the city, it is very typical to eat eels, prepared in different ways (fried, empanada, etc.).
