Travel and participation update – 77th FEMTEC Congress
Dear FEMTEC participants, At our working meeting of organising committee of 77th FEMTEC Congress, on 21st October, the French organisers expressed concern for participants’ safety because public demonstrations and transport disruptions in France may develop unpredictably.By now, there has been no official information, no reports of disturbances in Aix-les-Bains. The official travel advice consulted does not identify a specific problem in the Aix-les-Bains area. It recommends avoiding demonstrations, monitoring local developments, particularly in major cities, and checking transport information before travelling. Please follow any instructions issued by local authorities.
If you have already booked your journey, please check updates from your airline or rail operator, verify your connections to Aix-les-Bains and allow sufficient time for travel.
FEMTEC has asked the French organisers to extend the deadline for cancellation with a refund until 27th October, when the organising committee will meet again. This would give participants time to consider any developments before making a decision. We are awaiting confirmation. The registration website still displays 21st October as the deadline.
FEMTEC will inform you as soon as the organisers confirm any change and provide a further update after the meeting on 27th October.
The Congress will be organized in a hybrid format (in person and online), supported by contemporary digital communication technologies, including simultaneous translation solutions and QR-based access to selected materials, to enhance international participation and accessibility.
Under the theme "Balneology and Cutting-Edge Technologies: Shaping the Road to 2034", the Congress will bring together clinicians, researchers, academic institutions, health authorities and thermal sector stakeholders to explore how advanced technologies can support scientific evidence, personalized care, digital transformation and sustainable development in balneology, while preserving its human-centred foundations.
The reference to 2034 reflects the ten-year horizon defined by the official working document adopted in 2025 by the World Health Organization, WHO Global Strategy on Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine 2025–2034, providing a shared strategic framework for reflection and international cooperation.

According to applicable international regulations and the FEMTEC Statute, the General Assembly of World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy (FEMTEC) shall be held during the Congress. The convening of the FEMTEC General Assembly, including its date, venue and time, shall be communicated in due course.
