Termalism, as one of the ancient branches of traditional medicine, is the integration of medical and non-medical practices, qualifications and credentials. Thermal medicine, built on the classical knowledge of medical balneology and climatology, in the era of the dictates of the pharmaceutical industry and evidence-based medicine, needs to strengthen the conceptual foundations with the help of modern, high-quality basic and clinical research. It is within this framework that prof. Mufit Zeki Karagulle from Turkey gave a keynote speech on the topic “Balneology and Spa/Resort/Turmal/Spa Medicine, Quo vadis?” And prof. Antonella Fioravanti, (Italy) President of the World Organization of Thermalism, continued this topic, highlighting today’s problems in her report “New Epidemiologically Significant Diseases for Modern Resortology”.

It should also be noted interesting reports included in the discussed concept of thermalism, such as “Balneotherapy from the standpoint of evidence-based medicine.Elena Turova, Moscow), "Integrative approaches to the development of thermal medicine and spa medicine (Elena Bogacheva, Moscow), "Natural peloids of Turkey: possibilities of application in cosmetic medicine. Mine Karagülle, Turkey), “The importance of thermal medicine methods in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients with rheumatic diseases of the joints and spine: myths and realities.Nazim Badalov, Russia) and others.

Skolkovo Innovation Center, located in the Western Administrative District of Moscow, covering an area of 4 thousand square meters. It was built in 2010-2011 as a modern scientific and technological complex for the development of new technologies, being built as a “science city”, which is often compared with the “Silicon Valley”. The complex provides special economic conditions for companies operating in Russia and engaged in research activities that meet the strategy of scientific and technological development of the country.
