 FEMTEC - A Founding Member of the Global Alliance for Traditional and Integrative Medicine (GATIM) FEMTEC President Elected Vice President of the Alliance at Its First General Assembly
The World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy (FEMTEC) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the process leading to the establishment of the “Global Alliance for Traditional and Integrative Medicine (GATIM)”.
The process leading to the establishment of GATIM began two years ago, in 2024, with the invitation extended to FEMTEC to become one of the Founding Members of the Alliance. Recognizing the importance of this initiative, and its alignment with our federation's mission and WHO objectives FEMTEC accepted the invitation and actively participated in the consultation process on the Alliance's founding documents.
On 17 July 2026, during the First General Assembly of GATIM and the First Meeting of its Council, the founding documents were formally adopted, the governing bodies were established, and the first leadership of the Alliance was elected.
FEMTEC is honoured to announce that its President, Assoc. Prof. Olga Surdu, MD, PhD, was elected Vice President of the Global Alliance for Traditional and Integrative Medicine (GATIM). The election of the President of FEMTEC as Vice President of GATIM ensures that hydrotherapy, balneotherapy and climatotherapy are represented from the very beginning in the governance of this new international alliance.
This appointment reflects the international recognition of FEMTEC's longstanding contribution to the promotion of hydrotherapy, balneotherapy, climatotherapy and other evidence-informed traditional, complementary and integrative medicine approaches, as well as its continued collaboration with international scientific and health organizations.
FEMTEC welcomes the establishment of GATIM as an important international platform for scientific cooperation, professional dialogue and partnership among organizations committed to advancing traditional, complementary and integrative medicine. The Federation looks forward to actively contributing to the Alliance's future activities, promoting scientific excellence, international cooperation and closer collaboration with the World Health Organization and other global partners.
