 In Memoriam - María Generosa Souto Figueroa
FEMTEC mourns the passing of our esteemed colleague and dear friend, María Generosa Souto Figueroa, who left us this morning.
María Generosa Souto Figueroa, was a dedicated member of the FEMTEC international community, whose work and commitment significantly contributed to the advancement of balneotherapy and thermal medicine within our global network. She was actively engaged in promoting dialogue, encouraging collaborative initiatives, and supporting the development of structured approaches to the integration of thermal medicine into contemporary health systems.
Her vision was aligned with the evolving role of balneotherapy in modern medicine, and she showed a constant interest in strengthening its scientific, organizational, and public health dimensions. Through her involvement in discussions, project ideas, and collaborative efforts, she contributed to shaping directions that remain relevant to FEMTEC’s mission and its ongoing dialogue with international health frameworks.
In recognition of her professional merit and intellectual contribution, María Generosa Souto Figueroa was received as a Full Academician of the prestigious institution “Royal European Academy of Doctors (RAED)”, an honor that reflects her dedication to knowledge, excellence, and international collaboration.
Her second name, Generosa, resonated deeply with the person she was: a generous spirit in her thoughts, in her actions, and in the way she connected with others. She had the ability to bring people together with clarity, warmth, and a constructive spirit.
