Official opening of the International Research Centre of the World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy (FEMTEC) at RMAT



Created upon initiative of the private higher professional training institute “International Russian Academy for Tourism” (RMAT) and of the World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy (FEMTEC), the RMAT-FEMTEC International Research Centrewas officially opened on March 20, 2015 by professor Evgenij Nikolaevic Trofimov, dean of the Academy and political sciences graduate, as well as by professor Umberto Solimene, president of FEMTEC, at the premises of the RMAT branch in Moscow.

FEMTEC is the main association of hydrotherapy centres all around the world. Its members include the national associations and federations of hydrotherapy and treatment establishments, as well as the central state organizations involved in the issues of thermal establishments in many countries around the world. The cooperation agreement between RMAT and FEMTEC was signed during the event.


The opening of the International Research Centre in Moscow will allow to implement professional training and updating courses for highly qualified operatorsin the thermal medicine sector in the Russian Federation, as well as to carry out scientific studies in view of development of the therapeutic and recreational potentials of tourist resorts in the region.


The Centre’s activities currently include the implementation of a 360-hour integrating professional training scheme on “Management in the thermal medicine sector” aimed at operators in the thermal, hospitality, and tourist sector. A master class will be launched in May with the title “Online promotion of SPA and Wellness services,” and the one-of-its-kind Russian scheme for staff training on thermal establishment design and maintenance will start in September. Specialists in the thermal sector from all over the world, including from Russia, Italy, Tunisia, China, Hungary, and other countries, will hold lectures at the Centre’s premises.


The opening ceremony continued with a speech by Gianni Gurnari, vicepresident of FEMTEC, on “Modern technologies and management in the SPA and Wellness sector” (link to presentation) aimed at the students of the Academic Institute for hotel services and of the Faculty of hospitality and tourism of the RMAT branch in Moscow.


Evgenij Nikolaevic Trofimov, dean of RMAT, thanked Gianni Gurnari on behalf of the Academy for cooperating on staff training for the thermal medicine sector.


The RMAT-FEMTEC International Research Centre will help improve the training level of RMAT students and open up new opportunities for the Academy and its branch in Moscow.
